This is the OLG blog for the One Book - One Parish Lenten reading program. As you read each week's suggested chapters in "My Life with the Saints" you will find reflection/discussion questions here. An integral part of a reading program is the discussion that grows from it. We look forward to your participation. "All of us are smarter than one of us." You can make this come true for our Lenten One Book - One Parish reading program.

I spend most of my time and effort working to support my family, so I find comfort in wondering how it might have been for Jesus to work as a carpenter. Did he negotiate for supplies, did he have the occasional difficult or demanding customer, did he face competition, did he work long hours, did he enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done, and so on.
ReplyDeleteI think of my own life in my 20s and 30s, and I was so busy with my family, home, schedules, and even some volunteer time at my church. I know how easy it is to be distracted by that busyness. I wonder how Jesus might have dealt with distractions. Was he just waiting for 'his time', or was he the healer of souls as a child and young person? Was he that young person that everyone was just naturally drawn to?
