This is the OLG blog for the One Book - One Parish Lenten reading program. As you read each week's suggested chapters in "My Life with the Saints" you will find reflection/discussion questions here. An integral part of a reading program is the discussion that grows from it. We look forward to your participation. "All of us are smarter than one of us." You can make this come true for our Lenten One Book - One Parish reading program.

"Everything, even human differences, leads to the greater good of the Church,” said Saint Pope John XXIII at a gathering of bishops from around the world. Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not?

I agree, if everyone thought the same and had the same experiences, we wouldn't grow as human beings and I don't think we could ever truly grow as Church without our differences. It's sometimes difficult to dialogue with someone who doesn't believe the same things as me, but I find I learn more about another culture or religion or perspective, and more often than not these interactions strengthen my faith more than they challenge it.
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes differences seem like such an obstacle in our faith journey, but they can lead to growth in our understanding...just think of how have heresies helped in the development of doctrine.
